About Us

For nearly 35 years, Original Foods has been baking sweet treats that delight New Zealand and beyond.

From humble beginnings in 1991, supplying donuts to local takeaway stores, we’ve grown into an award-winning, large-scale bakery manufacturer based in Wigram, Christchurch. Today, our purpose-built facility employs over 200 dedicated staff, crafting a delicious range of cakes, donuts, slices, muffins, cookie pies and more.


We’re proud to be a leading name in the New Zealand baking industry, and our treats can be found in major supermarkets and food service distributors across New Zealand, Australia, and the Pacific Islands. We also offer private label products. 


So, what’s our secret? Our delicious range of baking is made from quality ingredients, with minimal additives or preservatives and a whole lot of love. Where possible, we use fresh, local ingredients including, 100% NZ butter, cream, cream cheese, diced apples, lemon peel, yoghurt, rolled oats, walnuts, white and dark choc, and freshly grated carrot.

We are always cooking up new creations (see what we did there?) and we even have many gluten-free options to enjoy. And while we’re passionate about baking delicious treats, we’re equally committed to responsible practices. We operate under a Ministry for Primary Industries Custom Food Control plan and are additionally certified to the Global Food Safety Initiative Safe Quality Food (SQF) Level 3. We are members of the Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil and are Rainforest Alliance certified.
